CompuWorks was recently selected as one of three vendors to provide Massachusetts food allergen training and certification. This MA Food Allergy training is designed to certify Certified Food Protection Managers at thousands of food establishments throughout the Commonwealth. The Massachusetts Department of Public Health / Bureau of Environmental Health / Food Protection Program has developed a regulatory program to implement M.G.L. c. 140, section 6B, "Food allergy awareness," in all food establishments in the Commonwealth that cook, prepare, or serve food intended for immediate consumption either on or off the premises. As part of this program, Department regulations will require all Certified Food Protection Managers, as that term is used in 105 CMR 590.003, to view a MA Food Allergen Training Certification video about serving customers with food allergies and with celiac disease-related food intolerance.

Massachusetts Food Allergen Training

There are approximately 24,000 food establishments in Massachusetts that will be covered by these new food allergen certification requirements. This means that approximately 35,000 individuals who will be required to view the MA Food Allergen Training video. Once training is completed, the Food Allergen Certificates will be good for five years.

The MA Food Allergy Training video provides current information including, but not limited to, symptoms of and procedures to avoid food allergies and celiac disease-related food intolerance.
